Before I start, this site is ridiculously addictive, but by the time I get off work I miss all the hot trades! ARGH!I enjoy watching the footwear 'n apparel scene, especially new start-ups like GreedyGenius (please refer to my earlier blog, one of the featured blogs on this site), and in that list, I have also been watching Under Armour for a while, and deeply respect the way co-found and current CEO Kevin Plank has grown their name from scratch with major brand names already dominating the ma...

Nike Will Recover, Just Do It!

Unfortunately, Nike will not end up meeting my forecast that I placed well over a month ago.  The reason why?  Well, after the bell yesterday, Nike announced its bad fourth-quarter earnings news, which was definitely not what I had expected. Nike's earnings dropped 5% to $332.8M ($1.27 a share), from $349.5M ($1.30 a share), last year.  Excluding the $52.5M settlement between its Converse subsidiary and a former licensee, Nike earnings would have been $1.39 per share, which woul...

Analysis

Earnings reported a slip after heavy spending around the World Cup and the effects of higher material costs ate into its sales and margins.  This would mean that my forecast made well over a month ago won't meet it's target, and I now expect the slight drop today and the better part of this week.  I do; however, expect a jump back in their prices due to higher reported orders in the coming near future

Wall Street is Asking: Are You a GreedyGenius?

June 23, 2006 marks the explosive launch of another major fashion brand name, GreedyGenius™, or otherwise known as GGs or GNSs in the market.  This comes after a wave of other high-end and well-established streetwear names like the Japanese A Bathing Ape, Australian Stussy, Hong Kong's RMC (Red Monkey Company), and domestically produced American Crooks N Castles, Creative Rec, PRPS, Supreme, (and the list goes on).  But what makes the “hype” or craze, as we call it, for GreedyGenius ...
